Does SB 169 Threaten to Destroy the Child Care Industry?
Senate Bill (SB 169) just made its way past the Senate and it's on it's way to be voted on in the House! Everyone in Kentucky's Child Care Industry needs to be concerned and needs to take action ASAP!
When We Found Out
March 6th, 2023
What Is SB 169?
Amend KRS 65.028, relating to public-private partnerships, to redefine "local government" to include local school district; and grant a local board of education the authority to enter into public-private partnerships on behalf of a local school district.
Our Concern
Is SB 169 just an undercover framework to set up the Universal Preschool initiative we all know the State is trying to push?
This Bill may imply construction services, NOT "school." However, does this mean the business can build a preschool with private funds through the School Board?
To us, you would need to set up a "Rebuttable Presumption" with last years HB 499 with this years SB 169.
Will you put your hand on the Bible & say that you will STOP any and all attempts to push Public/Private Partnership and the Mixed Delivery Method Arrangements (using these different names) otherwise known as Universal Preschool?
Will you STOP any and all attempts to push Universal Preschool??
The Child Care Industry should be and is AGAINST Public/Private Partnership and the Mixed Delivery Method as these are both forms of Universal Preschool.
The Child Care Industry is AGAINST ALL FORMS OF UNIVERSAL PRESCHOOL because this immediately affects Kentucky's children!
How Can You Help?
If you haven't done so already, please reach out to your representatives & let them know our concerns about this SB 169 before the House of Representatives vote on this Bill!
Your voice will make all the difference here! Let's ALL band together to save the early education of Kentucky's children!
